Shooting Bear Cubs and Other Such Nonsense . . .

What’s this all about? Why would a REAL hunter even think of doing such a thing?

I am a past Alaskan resident. I know many real hunters, can’t say I agree with them on the sport of killing animals for fun and games, but that’s their prerogative. If it weren’t for hunters, because we humans have killed off most of their natural predators, we would be overrun by herbivores in no time. So, bottom line, hunters are somewhat of a necessity in today’s America. . . as also, is the right to own and bear firearms.

I’ve never been involved with the NRA because I don’t hunt, nor do I own guns. I still adamantly believe in their right to exist, though. IMO an unarmed population is soon to be taken over by an armed population . . . simple.

It has always been that way and I doubt things are going to change anytime soon. I know today’s Kumbaya movement won’t make us any safer, no matter how it’s packaged. Actually, we probably need our weapons today more than ever just to protect ourselves from the vulgarity coming from the Left as well as the Right. (that’s another story)

Where the rage begins with me? Let me tell you a story:

My friend Mike was a hunting guide and commercial fisherman. He told me a story one day during a lull in the action on the boat. We were BSing about his guide business:

Me: So how’s it work, Mike. You have a client . . . he comes all the way up here and then what? What happens next?

Mike: Well my job is to get him a trophy. I need to know where that big moose is so I go out in the bush until I spot one.  They don’t move much so I know he’ll be in the same vicinity when I bring the hunter. Then I go to town meet the guy when he comes in, give him the normal tour and later take him into the bush for his big hunt. I walk him up and down hills and valleys until ultimately I lead him into the place where the moose is hanging around. He takes the shot and bags a trophy to take back to his office in DC. For the effort, I get a notch on my rep and the client gets to be big game hunter to his friends for a day. . .. it’s all bullshit, but that’s what they want and are willing to pay thousands to get. . . what’s not to like?

Well, what’s not to like? Here’s what I see . . . I see a wild, majestic animal that has just given up his head to a  pussified doughboy asshole from the lower forty-eight who, if left to his own resources and abilities would probably not have made it 1/4 mile off the highway without getting lost. And I have a real good idea that this is the type who are pushing through the NRA (and others) for access to the hibernation caves. And the State will give it to them. Why? Because of money.

THAT is an abomination . . . one that leads me into the dark fantasies of my past when I did shoot guns.

Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich

willfully-blindWhy did the German people choose to follow a second rate artist to oblivion? What is happening in today’s government? Is there need to be alarmed or is all this just the same-o- same-o bullshit we have all heard in American politics before?

Personally I don’t think so. IMO there is something sinister in the wind, it may come from the current administration or the one trying very hard to depose it, BUT something definitely is going on and I doubt it will be beneficial to ‘we the people’ OR the world at large.

Following is the current read I am engrossed in trying to find answers to my many questions . . . answers that in today’s media are absolutely impossible to find. History repeats itself to the unaware and I think we are aimed in that direction today.

Whether in love with the current admin or in hate with it, this book is a revelatory read to anyone who still has the option to observe with a clear and un-programmed mind. It can be found on Amazon used for less than ten bucks. It’s as true and factual a piece of work there is out there and I highly recommend others to read it as a study.

Publishers critique:

William L. Shirer’s THE RISE AND FALL OF THE THIRD REICH is a monumental study of the 20th Century’s most frightening moments. Now, 53 years after the end of World War II, it may seem incredible that our most valued institutions, and way of life, were threatened by the menace that Hitler and the Third Reich represented. Shirer’s description of events and the cast of characters who played such pivotal roles in defining the course Europe was to take is unforgettable.

Benefiting from his many years as a reporter, and thus a personal observer of the rise of Nazi Germany, and availing himself of some of the 485 tons of documents from the German Foreign Office, captured by the First Army, as well as countless other diaries, phone transcriptions, and other written records, meticulously kept at every level by the Germans, Shirer has put together a brutally objective account of how Hitler wrested political control of Germany, and planned and executed his 6 year quest to dominate the world, only at the end, to see Germany go down in flames.

The combination of personal recollection and amassing of historical evidence distinguishes this book as one of the great historical works of any time. For instance, he recounts that, from his apartment in Plosslgasse, in Vienna, he personally witnessed how perhaps half of Vienna’s 180,000 Jews bargained their way to freedom in 1938.

Shirer explains that Hitler believed that France and England were too weak to pose much of a threat to his ambitions to subjugate Czechoslovakia, and later Poland. The momentary relief of Russia as a threat to his domination of Europe as a result of the flurry of diplomatic activity that proceeded his invasion of Poland is fascinating. There is no relief, throughout his narrative, of the brutality of Hitler and such a large contingent of Germans who populate this narrative.

Although 1600 pages long, this is such a richly rewarding experience for anyone who wants to come to grips with the mysterious question as to how this menace to civilization ever came into being, much less was sustained for as long as it was. The answer, unfortunately, is that most of Germany, for a whole host of reasons, embraced Nazism and the fanaticism that Hitler engendered.

This Thing We Call Culture

Dylan Charles, EditorWaking Times What would it look like if our culture died out, as it was dying out, somewhere between coherency and harmony and the end point of chaos and dissolution? Would it perhaps resemble the divisive, vitriolic, excessively controlling, self-destructive world we live in today? Often pondering the future, contemporary sage Terence McKenna…
